busy busy fun fun fun

Wow! It's been a whirlwind weekend. Friday was the "me, my mom and 1,000 of our closest scrappin friends" convention. I learned I need to invest in a bunch of equipment to be cool. I tried getting a new printer on ebay today, but I was bid out at the last second by some other bitch going in at the last second. Grrrr!! Anyway, it was awesome and I learned a lot. Then we had M's bachelorette party! Very small crowd, just what she wanted- we went to dinner, target for candy, beaner's for coffee, and back to my house for cheesy movies. I hadn't been up that late in well, ugh... I can't remember. Was lovely! :) Saturday was only the hottest day ever and I went to help K with some of her moving. Big job. Glad I'm in the house I will be in until doomsday. Saturday evening T and I had some of his work friends from St. Johns over. Too hot to do anything outside, so we had a ping pong tourney. I love the pingage. So fun. I lost, but I didn't care. That much. These were practically strangers I didn't want them to think we invited them over just to watch them be humiliated by our pp prowess. HA! We were much better this winter- we're kinda out of practice. Ahhh.... which leads us to Sunday. The only day in like the past year where we had NO plans. And it even happened on a weekend. A-maze-ing. I read the WHOLE paper, slept in, didn't take a shower until after 3pm, it was just a super day. Although with the storm, our power was out for about 8 hours. That's become a very normal occurance around here. The wind gently rustles the leaves, and POOF! out goes the power. So we ran the generator (aka the best investment we ever made), so we could still do important things- like watch the satellite and go on the internet. After dinner, we went to portland to the chocolate moose (who make the most awesome homemade ice cream ever) and when we came back - there was power!! :) Hooray!! Let the week begin...

Good idea Jess!

You are a Rocker Girl!

If you don't have musical talent, you've got a talent for picking out great CD's.
Music rules your life - and you've got the best MP3 collection of anyone you know.
Many guys find you intimidating, but a select few think you're the catch of a lifetime.
Start hanging out in more used record stores, and you'll find love with a fellow rocker!

chocdogmama

So why am I the Chocolate Dog Mama? My husband and I have 2 chocolate labs - they're our entertainment. The "old man" is Smokey (left) - he's 8 but with hip issues, allergies, and seperation anxiety, he seems a lot older than that. He also has the loudest bark you ever would hear. He's our guard dog - that is if someone comes up the driveway while he's not sleeping. He sheds and sheds and sheds and sheds. He makes these funny noises - half groan, half sigh. Smokey's past times are stealing your spot on the couch when you get up, and farting. They're not just the normal silent-dog-fart. Some of them are so loud that you would have thought all he subsided on were refried beans and broccoli. No such luck- only Pro Plan. Our youngin' is Remy- short for Remington. He has the shiniest, softest coat of any dog I've ever known. He also has what I refer to as "wild eyes". He can be hyper, crazy, skiddish, and altogether goofy. Remy will not step on slippery floors. Our hardwood floors are covered with rugs which is called "remy's runway". He also has a sweet baby side of him. I call him my "cuddle bug" - he is known to steal your couch spot too, but he will always slide over so he can climb onto your lap. I took this picture last winter after I had bought some soft underwear that had little stickers that said "feel me". I thought they looked really funny on the dogs' heads. T did not agree. I was able to snap this momento quickly before the stickers came off. They're my babies! :)

scrappin!

I have been all about scrapbooking lately. I finally have my "area" all settled in the basement. Now I just need a satellite receiver down there so I can really spend some quality time with my paper and stickers. I realized that I have 4 albums that I want to work on. Ummm... timeline for completion... I don't even want to think about that. Friday I'm going to the Scrapbook Convention in GR- I'm hoping that it's not just me and a bunch of bored housewives oogling over the newest lines of eyelets and adhesives.

over

Another weekend has ended. But it's been a great one! Two words: Paddle Boat. :) The used paddle boat that I bought last fall was finally launched on Saturday. It's been out on our "big lake" 3 times now. I even was able to go all by myself once. I'm hoping to be able to go again during the day this week. My legs will be quite sore tomorrow, I have a feeling.

home!

T came home yesterday! Hooray! The dogs are elated to have their dad back. All day he's been mowing - maybe I'll get to see him again tonight.

In my time off from school, I have rediscovered tv programming geared toward women. How much do I love discovery health, WE!, Food network, and Lifetime. The Birdcage is on WE! right now. Robin Williams, Nathan Lane, AND Ally McBeal Flockhart - what a wonderful day!! :) Whatever will I do when school starts again!?!? Praise God for TiVo.... :)

uno

Well, what do you know?!? I've jumped on this blogger bandwagon. It's summer, so I have the time to spare. What will I talk about?!? What do I want the world to know about me, my life, etc? Well, here's a go...

Golfing. I've been doing a lot of that lately. T has been in ohio for the week for a dumb work thing, so I've been golfing. I had a lesson this afternoon and I improved 6 strokes from when I played 2 days ago. The golf pro is a genius!! Anyway, today it was much more fun and much less frustrating. Tomorrow we have league so I hope to do well again.

The dogs are missing T very much. Smokey has been unusually more flatulent lately. Lucky me. He comes home tomorrow. Thank goodness!

I'm trying very hard not to have sugar. Ugh. I've been so good about the no pop thing - none since April! :) It's soooooo difficult. I keep looking at my dress for M's wedding and hoping that I can be good a while longer and maybe won't have to wear the industrial-strength sucky-innie girdle. Just the medium-strength one! What a horrible word - giiirrrrrrrrrdddddddddllllleeee. There's no other nice way to say it. My mom and I started calling them "band-aids" a while back. That's a little better than the g word. Although it has caused some strange and confusing conversations when discussing an outfit. Is this appropriate to talk about on a blog?!? I guess if you don't want to know, stop reading!! :) Nevermind, I'm done talking about it.

Well, I suppose that's all for my first post. See ya round next time.
